Pole and Boudoir Dance?

What is Pole Dance?

Pole dancing is a form of dance that involves performing acrobatic and athletic movements on a vertical pole. The majority of the acrobatic movements we associate with pole dance today originated and were refined in the strip clubs by sex workers. While pole dancing, a dancer may use spins, climbs, holds, inversions, or the pole itself as an accessory to explore their own movement.

What is Boudoir Dance?

Boudoir is a dance style that emphasizes freedom and exploration rather than demanding precision and critique. In this freestyle-based dance, the focus is on how one feels rather than how they look, allowing for authentic, unapologetic, and unique expressions of self. Through flowing with the slow undercurrent in music, dancers experience freedom, vulnerability, and self-care, finding public solitude and actively sending love to oneself.

FAQs

  • Pole classes focus on learning new pole tricks and movements that require lifting off of the ground while Boudoir classes focus on floorwork and refining authentic freestyle dance. Pole and Boudoir overlap in many ways, and you’ll see dancing on the pole and on the floor in both kinds of classes. There are no specific “tracks” but students may gravitate toward pole classes, boudoir classes, or both!

  • No! Many potential students take our Beginner Workshop to see if pole and the Trinity Studio are right for them. Our beginner classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes and are similar to the first class of the 101 Pole or Boudoir series.

  • Pole 101 is great for students who want to learn pole tricks and build strength. Pole 101 allows students to take more technical classes after graduating, as you can take both basic pole and boudoir classes.

Boudoir 101 is a great option for new students that want to learn a flowing fluid dance with the pole or Pole 101 graduates who want to focus more on mastering their routine. If you are more interested in something gentler where you dance to your favorite songs and your feet never leave the ground, you may be interested in taking Boudoir 101!

  • Class series rotate on a 7-week cycle. If there are no current upcoming series, you can check in a few weeks for our next cycle to be posted.

If you just can’t wait that long, you can always sign up for Pole/Boudoir 101 drop-ins or a Beginner Workshop instead!
