What is Boudoir Dance?

Boudoir Dance is an artful and intimate form of dance that invites individuals to explore their inner desires through movement. It celebrates and harnesses the power of personal expression, emphasizing how one feels over how it looks. Guided by a slow and enchanting undercurrent of music, Boudoir Dance breaks away from traditional beats and rhythms, allowing individuals to tap into their authentic selves and experience the pure pleasure of dancing.

  • Boudoir Dance is powerful.

Boudoir is a celebration of a dancer’s individuality and a physical expression of self-love. The style defines itself in the freedom to be unique and is not comparative, but instead encouraging. It sparks creativity, imagination, and new movement patterns. Its foundation is in self-acceptance practice, and knowledge of what you can do with your body to create passion, softness, strength, release, or many other representations of the human experience.

  • Boudoir Dance allows me to give myself permission and my students permission to explore the self through physical expression. Taking chances and moving your body in new creative ways can be scary and the Boudoir style gives enough structure for me to feel safe but is not so limiting as to be restrictive.

  • I want to pass along the feeling of accomplishment and self actualization that Boudoir brings to my life! It can be difficult to be non-comparative and many people have experiences that cast shadows on their sense of self-worth or achievements. I want every student that comes into my class to take back into the world the courage to be an individual and the confidence to shine and appreciate their own beauty.

  • Boudoir Dance is freedom. Moving my body in ways that my body loves to move nourishes me to the core. I feel my body connect to the wave, the gentle undercurrent of a song and it takes me away, floating, drifting, melting, and I’m in flow while my body is beautifully and gently led by my dance.

  • In 2014, I discovered Boudoir Dance and it quickly became my passion. A safe place where I could strip away the layers, unveiling my soul, my joy, my grief, my anger, through dance. Boudoir Dance swirls through my being, an intoxicating elixir of celebration and release. In this sanctuary, I find peace and connection, wrapped in the embrace of a supportive community that accepts me just as I am. Boudoir Dance will always be a part of who I am.

  • Boudoir Dance has granted me the precious gifts of freedom, confidence, and unbridled self-expression. It has lit a fire in me that fuels my desire to guide and share the gift of Boudoir Dance with everyone! I’m passionate about witnessing others bask in their own liberation, unearthing an inner radiance through the art of Boudoir Dance, and being part of our loving, supportive, growing community.

  • Boudoir Dance is the essence in which one is carrying a feeling that may not even be recognized from within the dancer but needs a special release to be seen from within. The permission to move and feel, to be witnessed in a safe environment, and to dance freely within safe energy to enhance the feeling of Public Solitude and a physical, emotional and spiritual release.

  • Boudoir Dance has impacted my life. That is to treat life as a dance. It has taught me that I can find myself softening whilst feeling the strength when I need to get myself through hardships. To touch and receive. To pause and breathe. To accept. And most importantly…. Enjoy every glorious movement my body can achieve and treat LIFE as DANCE.

  • Getting to say that this is my Job is to say that I get to teach my passion in life. Boudoir dance was a gift I never knew I needed or even existed. I took that gift that was given by many before me and I took it all with so much gratitude. I love being able to gift my love and passion to those who yearn for the same as I did when I found my sanctuary. Boudoir is my true passion as a dancer and a human. My goal is to be sure all are seen, heard and loved not by just the class, but to aid in carrying this gift with them daily like I do. I strive to give every single dancer the gift I was graciously given to share. I hold my Boudoir Key very close to my heart.

  • Boudoir Dance is this beautiful opportunity to find yourself, all versions of yourself, whether you are feeling joyful, a badass, need nurturing or anything else, in your dance. It is freedom to be authentically you.

  • Boudoir Dance has been my solace, my friend, my love at times in my life. I have grown as an individual and as a dancer because I have been given a place to freely explore who I am.

  • I want to help others find their love of dance, of themselves, by giving them a space to explore without judgement.

  • Boudoir dance is a freestyle dance form that brings the ingredients of pole, wall, floor, and music together with the cooking tools of your mind, body, and soul to make the delicious and unique dish of your personal dance that changes flavor every single day!

  • Boudoir keeps me in consistent and open communication with my body, through good times and bad. It has helped me emotionally survive three spinal surgery recoveries, been there to remind me that I am a sensual being even when I feel like a lump, and taught me that even when the bottom half of my body didn’t work, I was still a dancer. It brings me constant joy and makes me look at everything in my life as a potential dance partner, from my relaxing-on-the-couch husband to a Trader Joe’s shopping cart.

  • There is absolutely nothing like seeing a new dancer discover their dance. It is truly my passion and joy. To share the experience with each human as they discover this new relationship with their bodies and movement… it is incomparable. Each new dancer that walks into the studio is an egg, and I get the absolute honor to be there as they crack open from the inside, find out what kind of bird they are, and spread their wings. The hardest part of my job is not crying every single time that happens.

  • Boudoir is a dance style that offers the freedom to focus on what feels good in movement. Boudoir Dance lives in the emotional and bodily feeling of dance, instead of technique and appearance. It has guidelines instead of rules, encouraging dancers to push the boundaries and explore in what feels enjoyable. In Boudoir, we gain the ability to turn off our minds and let our bodies lead without conscious thought; this can look different every single day for every single dancer.

  • As a person who can struggle with anxiety and being in my head, Boudoir offers me the freedom to set that all aside unlike anything else in this world. I am given the option to just let go and move however I want, with enthusiastic support and zero judgment. Boudoir has changed my relationship with my body so deeply in a such a positive way. Boudoir has also given me a community built on love and communal care, where we all want the best for each other.

  • I want to share the love and joy I have found with others. Boudoir Dance provides a space to center yourself and let go of anxiety and stress, find movement that promotes bodily health, build self-esteem through permission and encouragement, and create connections in a caring and supportive community.

  • For me, Boudoir Dance is a total and unleashed form of self expression. Movement in a way that is true to self. It's freedom to BE. It is also a wonderful workout that I'm always down for!

  • Boudoir Dance impacts every aspect of my life. It has made me a more positive person, has brought me peace of mind, self confidence, and pure joy. It has become a form of therapy for me and simply a part of who I am.

  • I feel that many of us, in our day-to-day lives, get so overwhelmed by trying to stay on top of everything, dealing with stress, expectations and judgment (self-inflicted or by our surroundings), that we don't take time for ourselves to let go and BE. I love providing that space, and supporting all individuals in their journey of giving themselves permission to disconnect from the outside world, re-connect with themselves, and practice self-gratitude.
