Boudoir Tarot

Instructor: Sara

Each week we will start with a boudoir-style warm-up, have a meditative combo related to one of the major arcana tarot cards, do some intuitive movement exercises and learn about your connection to the card and finally ending in a free dance.

Things to Bring: Tarot Card deck and Notebook

Important information about Tarot: Tarot has a complicated history. On one hand, the Tarot deck is just a deck of cards. But more importantly, the mysticism behind the cards is from the Romani people. The Romani people spent centuries living on the margins of European societies and have been subjected to an unconscionable amount of inhumane treatment over the course of centuries, and are still being subjected to harassment, abuse and discrimination even today. Due to this, Tarot represents non-conformity. Looking at the cards they are gendered and discuss things like unequal gender, racial and class power relations innately. “Tarot practice and its history is gendered, racialized, and classed. Although many of its traditional dynamics have now disappeared, they form part of the trajectory of tarot and must not be forgotten or dismissed. Yet, tarot as a tool for dissidence and self-care must also not be devalued, and instead be practiced with honor and recognition to those that shaped its usage.” – from https://thisisgendered.org/entry/tarot
